Pastoral context
Immanuel Downtown
Sam Osborn’s most recent pastoral setting, where he served for six years.
A pastoral setting for the question of formation.
Sam’s ministry at Immanuel Downtown provides a real church setting for his work on discipleship. A written framework articulates a theological vision connecting identity in Christ, shared practice, worship, repentance, sanctification, and mission.
This vision provides a way to think about the relationship between teaching, relationships, leadership, and the church’s shared life. An articulated vision is distinct from an account of what was implemented or what changed.
A practice account in development
The fuller story is still being documented.
A detailed case study will require verified dates, the assessment and training work undertaken, specific changes in culture and programming, and accounts of what participants experienced. No intervention outcomes are claimed here.
This pastoral context is separate from Sam’s dissertation and should not be understood as an evaluation of a commissioned 7Mile engagement.
